Join our fun and inclusive footy club located in the Inner West at Wagener Oval, Ashbury.

At the Magpies, kids aged 5-17 can learn the great game of AFL and develop kicking, catching and running skills. It’s a positive, all abilities club where kids make great friendships and connections. We have mixed, boys and girls only teams available.

Registration fees are low, the uniform is included, and Active Kid vouchers can be applied. Deferred and flexible payment plans are also available.

FAQs

  • The AFL season runs from April to August with training starting in March. We also hold a skills bootcamp in February. Registrations for the next year open in October/November.

  • Auskick to U10 play on Saturdays while Youth Boys U11 up and Youth Girls U10 up play on Sundays.

    Game times and locations will vary, depending on your age group and the home club you are playing.

    Our home ground is WH Wagener Oval, 2 Whitfield Avenue. Away games are played in different grounds in Sydney depending on the age group. Auskick games are played in the Inner West.

  • Training is held at our home ground, W H Wagener Oval in Ashbury. Please see Player Info for more information on days of the week for different teams.

  • Registration covers uniform, umpire payments, affiliation fees, insurance and ground fees.

    The club provides all new players a uniform including shorts and socks to keep and a Inner West Magpies Junior AFL Club jersey, which is returned to the club at the end of the season.

    Auskickers also receive an Auskick pack full of fun goodies!

  • All participants who register to play Auskick get an awesome pack filled with cool footy goodies!

    Everyone receives a t-shirt, footy, pump & footy cards plus the choice of a bucket hat or beanie!

  • Football boots and for U8s up, a mouthguard.

    We have a number of 2nd hand football boots generously donated by our families.

    We also have a range of Wests merchandise including caps, long sleeve tops and bags available at the canteen for purchase at home games.

  • Get in touch and let us know your child’s date of birth. If there is room in the team, we would love to have them.

  • Yes, you are welcome to join in a training session. Please get in touch with your child’s date of birth so we can recommend the right team and training session. For insurance purposes, all players must be registered before taking the field in weekend games.

  • We are an inclusive and equitable club and consider reductions or exemption of fees in certain circumstances. Please contact the Committee to discuss further.
