Our Junior Magpies were lucky to have a special visit from GWS Giants stars Nicholas Madden and Darcey Jones at training this month.

The players were fantastic, helping our young footy stars with skills and drills while sharing plenty of tips and encouragement. It was an unforgettable experience for the kids—full of fun, learning, and inspiration! Big thanks to the Giants for their support.

How lucky were we in Week 2 of Magpies Academy to get a visit from Sydney Swans including Riley Bice, Matthew Roberts, Ned Bowman, Aaron Francis, Jack Buller, Oliver Florent, James Jordon, Sam Wicks and Angus Sheldick.

We are excited to announce that Magpies Academy is now FREE for 2025 registered players.

Our AFL skills boot camp will be run over 4 weeks commencing Wednesday 5th February. For those new to the game, Magpies Academy will provide a great opportunity to come and try AFL in a fun and supportive environment so don’t forget to invite your mates! Experienced players will benefit from skills development and fitness in the lead up to the 2025 season.

We are excited to reveal our new club logo and to announce that we are now the Inner West Magpies Junior AFL Club!

Proposed Name Change
To better reflect our position within the competition and align with our Senior Club, the committee proposes changing the club's name from Western Suburbs Junior Australian Football Club to Inner West Magpies Junior Australian Football Club.

Your Voice Matters
This decision isn't solely up to the Committee. We invite all members to attend a special meeting on Friday, November 15th at 6pm at the Magpie Sports Club to vote on the proposed name change.

On Saturday 21 May, we celebrated the 2024 Season together with our Presentation Day at Wagener. We hope all our players had a blast kicking the footy around and playing on the jumping castle with their Wests mates.

Big congratulation to all for a great season and special recognition to our Club award winners.

On Friday 31 May, we celebrated 25 years of West Juniors with a trivia night at Magpies Sports. The air was buzzing with community spirit and some serious trivia showdowns as we raised over $6K in funds for the Club.

We hope you are enjoying the school holidays and weekend sleep-ins. A reminder 27 & 28 April will see the return of Junior AFL with Round 3.

Saturday 4 May will mark the return of Auskick! We look forward to seeing the youngest of our Junior Magpies taking the field for the first time in Season 2024. It’s not too late to join for the season. If you know any families looking for a winter sport, please encourage them to join a training night to give AFL a try.

Footy is back! After the washout round last weekend, Round 2 kicks off 13 and 14 April for our Junior teams (U9 up) followed by Auskick on 4 May. The weather is looking good, we are super excited and looking forward to seeing the kids back on the ground, having fun and making memories.

The latest Magpie News! Players from the Giants will be joining us on Tuesday 12th March for a FREE Come and Try Aussie Rules session. Open to existing Wests players and kids interested in giving AFL a try. ALL WELCOME!

Missing footy? We are excited to let you know that registrations are now open for the 2024 season. Early registrations help the club plan and form teams so don’t forget to jump online and sign up before the end of the year and take advantage of our early magpie savings!

On Sunday 24th September, Wests Juniors came together as a club to celebrate the 2023 season. It was a day to recognise all the achievements and hard work of our players, volunteers and parents. It was also lots of fun with a BBQ, jumping castle and great coffee from Shot on the Run.

We were so proud of our U12YG, Y14YG and U14YB teams for making the Grand Finals in their divisions for the 2023 season. All teams stood up, didn’t give up and left it all on the ground. Here are some photos of a big day of finals action for Wests Juniors to celebrate this fantastic achievement.

We’re at the final weekend of football for the season. We have 3 teams about to play their Grand Finals at Olds Park, 624 Forest Rd, Penshurst, this Sunday. There is no better way to spend Father's Day than watching club footy. Attendance is free, so please join us to create a sea of black and white and a positive and supportive atmosphere for our teams.

Exciting times as we kick off the 2023 season. The WSJAFC Committee has been doing a lot of work to get this season started, and we are all looking forward to playing footy. Thanks to all the Coaches, Managers and Volunteers for the great preseason training camps readying the players for this season.

In very exciting news for Wests players and families, Swans Stars will be joining us tomorrow for our first official Wednesday training session! Isaac Heeney, Harry Cunningham, Nick Blakey & Tom McCartin will run training drills and games with the kids, followed by a Q&A session. Swans players will arrive at 5.30pm.

Join our fun and inclusive footy club located in the Inner West at Wagener Oval, Ashbury. Wests have mixed, boys and girls only teams available. Season runs from April to August with training starting in March.
