Showstoppers Trivia Night hits a Million Dollar Note!
What a night! Last night, the Inner West Magpies Junior AFL Club community swapped their footy boots for dancing shoes, neon spandex, and some seriously questionable wigs for our "Showstoppers" Trivia Night at the Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL.
With 170 guests packing out the room, the energy was electric from the first question to the final dance-off. The costume brief was "Showstoppers," and our community absolutely understood the assignment.
A Star-Studded Guest List
The red carpet was absolutely packed with talent. We had a jaw-dropping lineup of superstars turn up for the night, including Dame Edna Everage, Kath and Kim, Steve Irwin, Barbie & Ken, Sherlock Holmes, The Blues Brothers, and Maverick.
The spooky side of town was well represented by The Addams Family (including Wednesday, Morticia, and Gomez), while Fred Flintstone held down the prehistoric front. Musically, we were treated to appearances by Kelsea and the Taylor Swifts, while Obi-Wan brought the Force, the "working boys" kept the stage safe in high-vis, and so many more incredible characters filled the room!

While the competition was fierce and the margins were razor-thin, a massive congratulations must go to our big winners of the night:
Trivia Champions: The brilliant U15 Parents table proved they have the brains to match the brawn, taking home the ultimate trivia bragging rights for the year!
The Million Dollar AFL Player Draft: A huge congratulations to Lachlan, who read the board perfectly to take out the top spot and now holds the ultimate draft bragging rights!
The Magpie Millions: Shout out to our three lucky winners who took home the prize pool in our big draw!
A Massive Thank You to Our MC & Volunteers
A massive shout-out goes to our incredible Trivia MC for the night, Sam Chan. Sam kept the crowd roaring, the games fiercely competitive, and the energy sky-high from start to finish. Whether he was wrangling the room for the next round of questions or calling the high-stakes action on the floor, he was the ultimate showman.
We also want to extend a huge thank you to the small army of volunteers who spent months planning, gathering prizes, and running the events. Special thanks must go to our fabulous front desk volunteers, Kath and Kim, who gave everyone a proper "look at moee" style welcome as they walked through the door! This night wouldn't have been possible without your tireless dedication behind the scenes.
Incredible Generosity & Silent Auction Results
We are thrilled to announce that our Silent Auction raised a phenomenal $5,068.74! A massive thank you to everyone who bid so generously on our beautifully packed hampers and prize packs, spanning everything from "The Ultimate Games Night In" to match-day recovery kits and pamper packs.
Every single dollar raised goes directly back into supporting our young Magpies—funding equipment, training programs, and ensuring our club remains a fantastic place for junior footy to thrive.
Stay tuned for the overall fundraising amount we raised as a community in the coming days! We are still tallying up the final figures from ticket sales, games, and donations, and we can't wait to share the grand total with you all soon.
Highlights from the Night
The Epic Showdowns: The absolute highlight of the night had to be the legendary sing-off and dance-off challenges. Well... let's just say what happens at the RSL stays at the RSL, but the competitive spirit (and the dance moves) were completely off the charts!
The Costume Royalty: From neon tracksuits to full-blown character transformations (including Shaun the Sheep getting carried across the dance floor), the effort put into the outfits was next level.
The Table Games: From intense trivia huddles to high-stakes mini-games on the dance floor, everyone brought their A-game.
