Match Report: Magpies Show Massive Heart in Round 6!
What a weekend of footy at the Nest! Round 6 served up some of the toughest, most physical, and inspiring football we’ve seen all season. Facing off against some fierce rivals, our Inner West Magpies juniors put on an absolute masterclass in grit, determination, and classic club spirit.
While the scoreboards fell in our favor for three massive wins, the real victory was seeing every single Magpie put their body on the line and play tough from the first siren to the last.
Under 17 Girls: A Team United 🏆
Our U17 Girls continue to prove they are an absolute force to be reckoned with. Coming together on Sunday with incredible focus, their team synergy was unmatched. Facing heavy pressure around the contests, the girls utilized precise handball chains and lightning-fast transitions out of the backline.
With the pink-headgeared defensive anchors cutting off every counter-attack and the midfield dominating the clearances, they locked down a beautiful, hard-fought victory. The post-game team huddle said it all—this group plays for each other!
Under 12s: Rising to the Challenge 🏆
The U12s brought the house down in a high-stakes, physical clash against the Moore Park Tigers. The tackling pressure from our young Magpies was relentless, smothering the Tigers' run-and-gun style right from the bounce.
Whether it was soaring through the air for an acrobatic clearance or chasing down defenders to force crucial turnovers, the U12s showed maturity well beyond their years. They fought for every single blade of grass and earned every bit of that victory song!
Under 15s: Grit and Glory 🏆
Talk about a thriller! Our U15 boys dug deeper than ever to secure a massive win against the Pittwater Tigers. After a back-and-forth battle where both teams traded heavy blows, it came down to who wanted it more in the trenches.
Our boys put on a clinics in relentless ground-ball pressure and desperate, goal-saving tackles. When the game was there to be won, the U15s stood up, locked the ball in our forward half, and brought home a legendary win.

Beyond the wins, we want to give a massive shoutout to every single junior player who put on the black-and-white stripes this weekend.
We saw players diving headfirst into packs, throwing themselves into desperate smothering attempts, and taking massive hits only to bounce right back up with a smile and a mouthguard in place.
From our youngest teams fighting hard on Saturday to our senior youth divisions grinding it out on Sunday, the defensive pressure and "never-give-up" attitude across the entire club was elite. Winning is great, but seeing our Magpies play with that kind of courage and sportsmanship makes the whole community proud.
Let’s carry this incredible momentum right into Round 7. Rest up, hit the track hard this week, and let’s keep building the nest!
